The hurricane, Matthew was such a devastating force to the Southeast coast of the US.
At the time it was approaching, I happened to be enjoying myself in my RV in a campground called Fiesta Key. It’s a great campground, with nice amenities and an onsite restaurant/bar.
On the other hand, its halfway down the Overseas Highway, just south of Islamorada, and to get to the mainland is a pretty long drive up a two-lane road that is often only a couple of feet above the high-tide level of the Atlantic and the Gulf waters.
As this storm grew in size and came closer to where I was camping I had to make a decision on whether to ride the storm out, or to run back to my home just south of Tampa on the west coast of Florida.
